Długa ekspozycja / Long exposure

Ostatnio bardzo poplularne zrobiły się zdjęcia z długim czasem naświetlania. Dzięki takiemu podejściu można wygładzić powierzchnię wody lub rozmyć ruch chmur na niebie. Niestety podczas robienia tego ujęcia niebo było zupełnie czyste. Dlatego też musiałem poszukać czegoś z najdzie na pierwszym planie. Kamienisty brzeg wydał mi się wystarczająco interesujący. Niestety w Polsce trudno o wybrzeże o takim charakterze. Zdjęcie zostało zrobione w Szwecji w okolicach Karlskrony przy użyciu dwóch filtrów szarych i statywu.

Long exposure photographs are very popular recently. Thanks to that approach the water's surface can be blurred as well as the clouds' movement on the sky. Unfortunatelly during taking that shot the sky was completely clear. That's why I had to look for something on the first plan. Rocky shore seemed interesting ehough. Unfortunatelly it is difficult to find that kind of shore in Poland. the shot was taken in Karlskrona are in Sweden with the use of two stacked grey filters and tripod.

Zatrzymać ruch / To freeze the motion

Najlepszym sposobem pokazania prędkości poruszającego się obiektu jest zamrożenie go w kadrze z rozmytym tłem. Pewna ręka podążająca za obiektem i odpowiednio długi czas naświetlania wystarczą. Problem w tym, że przy odpowiednio długim czasie naświetlania i długiej ogniskowej, trudno jest zachować ostrość śledzonego obiektu. Trzeba ćwiczyć :)

The best way to show the speed of moving object is to freeze it in the frame with blurry background. Firm hand following the object and long enough exposure time will do. The trouble is, that at exposure time long enough and high focal length it is difficult to keep moving object sharp. Training is advised :)

Samochody / Cars

To zdjęcie lubię nie ze względu na wysmakowaną technikę czy efekt końcowy, ale za to co przedstawia. Audi Quattro, ikona sportu motorowego i zawieszone na ścianie Porsche. Muzeum Techniki w Berlinie.

I like that picture not for its sophisticated techinque or final effect, but for what's on it. Audi Quattro, the motorsport icon and Porsche hanged on the wall. Museum of Technology, Berlin.

HDR

Czasem jest tak, że w nudną scenę trzeba tchnąć trochę życia. Jednym ze sposobów może być HDR. Ja szczególnie lubię tę technikę, gdy niebo jest dość dynamiczne i pełne detali, które można podkreślić zwiększając dynamikę tonalną zdjęcia. Może się ona również okazać doskonałym sposobem na uratowanie zdjęcia zrobionego w pochmurny dzień przy kiepskim oświetleniu. Poniższe zdjęcia zostały wykonane jako trzy pliki, naświetlone z korektą ekspozycji -1,0 i 1EV i scalone w Photomatixie.

It is sometimes neccessary to put some life into boring scene. One of the options might be HDR. I like that technique when the sky is quite dynamic and full of details, that may be emphasized by increasing tonal dynamic of the picture. It can also be a great way to save a shot taken on cloudy day with bad lighting. Below shots were taken as three files, exposed with exposure compensation of -1,0 and 1EV and combined in Photomatix.

Kolory wiosny / Colours of the spring

Następna taka okazja zdarzy się... za pół roku, jesienią. Znowu nastąpi gra kolorów, która fotografom sprzyja, w nieoczekiwany czasem sposób. Ja osobiście wolę jednak tę grę wiosną. Nie dlatego, że kolory są inne, to też, ale dlatego, że wszystko jest takie świeże. Szkoda, że ten czas w tym roku już za nami i świetnie, że udało się całkiem sporo zachować.

Next ocassion such as this will occur... in half a year, in autumn. We will experience the play of colours that favors photgraphers, in unexpected way sometimes. But I personnaly prefer that play during spring. Not only because the colours are different, that too, but because everything is so fresh. Pity this period has already passed us this year and great that we've managed to save quite a lot of it.

Panorama

Panoramy zawsze mnie fascynowały, ale dopiero niedawno odkryłem, że aby je robić nie potrzeba wcale wyrafinowanego sprzętu i dużego nakładu pracy. Ktoś może powiedzieć "mój telefon robi niezłe panoramy"... otóż nie, nie robi. To co robi telefon wyglądać ma dobrze na telefonie i tyle. Tak czy inaczej jest z tym kupa zabawy i czasem coś co w jednym kadrze wyglądać może nijak, na panoramie robi dużo lepsze wrażenie. Ja preferuję panoramy szerokim szkłem co jeszcze podkreśla majestatyczność ujęcia. Poniższe zdjęcie dowodzi, że nie jest to wcale konieczne i nawet obiektyw bez większych zniekształceń może dać nam niezłą panoramę. Dobra wiadomość dla użytkowników kitów. I wcale nie trzeba statywu. Zdjęcie wykonałem na wieży Muzeum Narodowego w Szczecinie jako serię ujęć i scaliłem w Photoshopie.

I was always fascinated by panoramas, but just recently I have realised I don't need fancy equipment and a lot of work to take them. Someone might say "my phone takes nice panoramas"... well, it doesn't. What phone does has to look nice on the phone and that's it. Either way it is a lot of fun and sometimes something may look not to well in a single frame, but makes much better impression on panorama. I prefer panoramas taken with wide lens which emphasises the greatness of the shot. The picture below proves that it is not always neccessary and event the lens with no deformation can give us cool panorama. Good news for kit shooters. And you don't event need tripod. The shot was taken on the tower of National Museum i Szczecin, Poland as a series and combined in Photoshop.

Zachwyt dziecka / Kid's admiration

Zachwyt dziecka jest czymś niesamowitym. Jeszcze lepiej jeśli dotyczy czegoś, co dla nas jest nawet trudne do zauważenia. A najlepiej jeśli dotyczy to własnego dziecka :)

Kid's admiration is something incredible. Even better if it concerns something we wouldn't have even noticed. And the best is if it is your own kid :)

Tylko co zrobić, jeśli obiekt zachwytu jest za duży, żeby się nim bawić?

Jestem świrem samochodowym... nie da się ukryć. To jest i zawsze będzie moje nadrzędne hobby. Nie ma w tym nic złego, szczególnie, że to właśnie samochody są powodem, dla którego nauczyłem się robić grafikę 3D i zająłem fotografią. A to, że przy okazji powstało parę innych rzeczy i otworzyłem się na inne zagadnienia to chyba tylko korzyść. I tak w kwestii 3D pojawiły się inne projekty a w fotografii najbardziej lubię krajobrazy... Ale salonik trzeba przyznać pierwsza klasa :)

I am cars freak... no question about it. It is and alway will be my primary hobby. There's nothing wrong with the fact that the cars are the reason I learned to create 3D graphics and went deeper into photography. And the fact that I opened myself in the meantime to other stuff is only beneficial. So 3D-wise I made some other projects and in photography I like landscapes the most... But the living room here is first class :)

Pod słońce / Against the sun

Zawsze kiedy jestem w lesie i mam ze sobą aparat, mam ochotę fotografować wszystko żeby uchwycić choć trochę z piękna otaczającej nas przyrody. A jest to niestety bardzo trudne i najczęściej gdy oglądam tak zrobione zdjęcia na komputerze, umieszczam je tam gdzie ich miejsce... w koszu. A może tak złamać zasadę i w mocno kontrastowym otoczeniu strzelić coś co ma jeszcze więcej kontrastu?

Every time I am in the forest carrying the camea I have the desire to photograph everyhing to get at least a bit of the beauty of surrounding nature. And it is tough. When I see the pictures taken like that I place them where they belong... recycle bin. What if we break the rule and in highly contrasted environment we shoot something that is even more contrasting?

Pierwsze koty za płoty czyli first cut is the deepest

Wiosna już na dobre zagościła w naszej strefie klimatycznej, a ja mam wciąż wrażenie, że najlepsze już w tym roku za nami... w naturze oczywiście. Na następne pola kwitnącego rzepaku zapraszamy za rok, albo teraz... do Szwecji :) Coś udało się jednak utrwalić.

Spring has settled well in our climat zone and I have a constant feeling that the best has already passed this year... nature wise of course. To next blooming field of rape we're invited next year, or now... to Sweden :) Something however was recorded.
